Lee sets sight on 2011 World Cup

Injury-plagued Australian pacer Brett Lee has set his eyes on next year's World Cup in the subcontinent to draw curtains on his illustrious career.

The 33-year-old fast bowler, who is yet to play a game for Australia in more than eight months and has already bade adieu to Test cricket, said playing in India during the 2011 World Cup will be a good way to end his career.

"To me a World Cup in India in 2011, because of my love for India and the stuff I do over there, it would be a great way to finish, I would have thought," Lee was quoted as saying by the Australian Associated Press.

From being counted as one of the best fast bowlers in the world, Lee faded into oblivion after suffering multiple injuries. The New South Wales-born player missed last year's Ashes due to a side strain and had an elbow surgery done last December.

He made a comeback during the Indian Premier League this season playing for Kings XI Punjab but just after four matches, Lee broke his thumb, before a muscle strain in his forearm forced him to sit out the Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbeans.

Despite the many setbacks, Lee has not given up hope and he said he was training hard and pumping up his fitness level to make another attempt to earn his place in the Australian team.

"I've been training hard and I probably could have pushed to go over to England, but I thought I wanted to get a really good base behind me and get some stuff done in the gym and get my fitness up to a level that I'm very happy with," he said.

"Then looking forward to probably the next two to three months to do a comeback and sort of take it from there.
